Rodney Elm

Owner & Coach - ACE Certified Personal Trainer, IPF Cat. II  referee, international level coach, Crossfit Level 1 certified trainer, Functional movement screening Level 1 Certified, Powerlifting America SW Regional director.

Born and raised in Arizona I’ve been in and out of the gym since the seventh grade, man I’m getting old. I received my A.C.E Certified Personal Training certificate in 2011 and competed in my first sanctioned Powerlifting competition that year as well. I quickly found myself running Saturday morning bootcamps out of our garage gym along with training clients one on one.

My wife, Miryam, and I jumped in with both feet running powerlifting meets, officiating at meets and growing the community here in Arizona and beyond. We are both IPF Cat.II level referees and are involved with the IPF (International Powerlifting Federation) and the U.S. Affiliate, Powerlifting America, being avid meet directors since 2016 and are continuing our passion for providing athletes the opportunity to achieve their goals on the platform and beyond.

I serve on the Board of Powerlifting America as the SW Regional Director and will continue to run sanctioned Powerlifting America competitions around Arizona and nearby states. In November 2019 we realized our dream of moving our garage gym into an industrial space. We love working with our members and clients helping each to meet their fitness goals. We find every opportunity to purchase specialty equipment to enhance the workout experience for our members and am always seeking additional training opportunities and keeping my coaching skills honed. I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals!

Miryam Elm

Owner & coach - ACE Certified Personal Trainer, IPF Cat. II level referee, Meet Director & Certified coach, Powerlifting America executive committee member.

I grew up in North Central Phoenix and have lived in the valley most of my life. Being active and spending time outdoors hiking, biking or anything that took me outside is what I enjoyed most. I worked out intermittently most of my adult life but found the outdoor activities to be more enjoyable. When Rodney and I decided to create our garage gym in 2011 I found myself more interested in being in the gym.

My powerlifting journey began in 2012 when at 48 years old I decided to start training for my first powerlifting meet. It was great to have my husband as my coach and training partner work with me as I had many hurdles to overcome with numerous previous injuries and physical limitations to take into account. One year later I competed and have many competitions under my belt now.

We have also trained for Obstacle Course Racing via bootcamp style training with our team of fitness enthusiasts and loved the energy of group fitness and reaching our goals together by supporting one another.

I am now supporting our powerlifting community by serving on the Executive Committee as the Secretary-General of Powerlifting America. My goal is to help us grow in a way that always puts the athlete first while providing opportunities for athletes to compete at every level.

It’s been a dream of ours to expand our gym into a larger location and to have the ability to help more individuals in their fitness journey and/or get excited about getting on the platform. I am excited to support our members and extended family at WADE Strength Systems.
